2002 Burley Taiko with LOTS of upgrades and extras.

$1600

I purchased this bike in late 2002. It only has about 500 miles on it. The bike has many, many valuable upgrades that truly make it an excellent touring machine. This is an awesome longwheelbase recumbent. It's strong, offers a passive suspension, is extremely comfortable, has a top-notch set of components, and handles great fully loaded. The bike has no damage to it and it has always been stored inside.

Better yet - this bike is convertable to a short wheelbase recumbent by moving the fork to under the steerer tube. You get two bikes in one and there is are no compromises with this versatility - it rides perfectly both ways! The passive suspension it offers as a long wheelbase recumbent offers extraordinary comfort. I rode it on the 2004 TOSRV and it was just a dream.

In 2002 I did a 4495 mile TransAm ride on a Rans Rocket and wish I had done it on this bike instead! If you want a full setup I also have two sets of brand new Cannondale panniers available for $150.00. The Old Man Mountain White Rock rack is the best rack you can get for this bike. You'll have a great setup that needs no extras. Let me know if you're interested in the panniers.

Why am I selling? I bought a Catrike Speed recumbent trike and need to help finance its purchase.

Upgrades and extras include:

Retail price of this bike is $1800. The total value of the extras is $500+. It's a steal for $1600.

Bike all loaded up for touring. (You don't get everything pictured in the next three photos.)

Custom tailsock. Looks good, keeps your rack trunk away from prying eyes and makes you go a little faster. The first picture shows the true color.

Easily zips open for access to contents. Frame is compatible with most racks - it definitely works with an Old Man Mountain White Rock rack. You can put a rack trunk inside the tail sock.

Stock Ultegra chainrings. These are included with the bike.

Absolutely brand new 11–34 cassette, XT derailleur and Avid Rollamajig. Great rear end combo.

You get this custom, removable low rider front rack. It is set up to work perfectly with Cannondale front panniers. You can buy my set of four Cannondale panniers (nearly new) for $150 extra.

Absolutely brand new Nashbar clipless pedals.

Shimano XT brake lever and integrated trigger shifters. The FlightDeck computer pickups mount to the shift pods. The buttons by your right thumb operate the computer remotely.

Lizard Skins headset seals.

Shimano XTR front derailleur.

Vuelta aluminum chainrings. Awesome setup for fully loaded touring.

Profile Designs bottle rack (included). The two stickers on the steering mast are removable.
